We must remember that our text is dealing with ritual or ceremonial law, not a moral law. These ceremonial rules were restrictions were given to Israel to set them apart in the worship of God. Israel is called to be holy, to be different from the world around them. Ceremonial law was never given for atonement of sin. 

Today as followers of Christ, we are to be different from the world around us as well.

Even though we do not have the same restrictions in lifestyle, clothing or dietary laws the Jewish nation, we still have a life of distinction by the Holy Spirit reigning in our lives that sets us apart from the world we live in.
