John 18:37-38 Pilate therefore said to Him, “Are You a king then?” Jesus answered, “You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.” Pilate said to Him, “What is truth?”
Is Jesus king? What is truth? These two questions are asked often in the world today, maybe you have asked one of these questions?
Pilate’s asking was a bit sarcastic. He had his truth; Rome was his truth, Caesar was his truth, his position was his truth. And we have our truth’s as well, don’t we? Yet the first question was what bothered Pilate. He wasn’t concerned about a religious movement or a fad sweeping over the country. If Jesus is a king, this threatened Pilate’s position.
Truth will never be known until we allow Jesus to be the King in our lives. God desires to have a relationship with us but our sin keeps us from that relationship. God sent His Son Jesus to remove that sin. Jesus paid the price for us on the cross, died and rose again to settle the debt once and for all.
John 8:32 “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
Pilate would never see truth without seeing Jesus as Lord. How about you? Will you allow Jesus to forgive you of your sin and be your Lord and Savior? God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life.
