At the start of a New Year, it is a good time to consider how much time you spend actually reading God’s word compared to other things. How much time do you spend on your phone checking your Social Media, messages or emails? Most phones will have an app available now to show you how much time you spend on your phone. So as this year begins, why not spend more time reading your Bible?
There are numerous Bible reading plans available. Some will take you through reading the Bible in a whole year, others perhaps just the New Testament. It doesn’t really matter which one you choose, or even if you actually accomplish each day. What matters is spending more time actually reading God’s word.
Set aside the time to do this, perhaps you need to set the alarm for 30 minutes earlier in the morning, redeem your commute time (you can even get audio versions of the Bible if you are driving), fill up your lunch time, or switch the TV off in the evening. The time you choose is up to you.
At Calvary Plymouth, Pastor Sabino has suggested a schedule which covers the Bible in a year but only takes up 5 days of the week. So you get two days off each week, or time to catch up if like me you may have missed a day or two.
If you’re new to reading your Bible daily then why not start just reading through the New Testament reading for each day.
